Karolina Aavik is a distinguished Estonian pianist who has dedicated herself to both solo and chamber music, performing regularly in her home country, Germany and elsewhere in Europe.

Her debut album A E T E R N U S with longtime ensemble partner Hans Christian Aavik was released in 2021 at the Arvo Pärt Centre in Tallinn, featuring works by Bach, Schubert and Pärt. In 2022, they performed as a duo at many renowned festivals such as Usedomer Musikfestival, Museumskonzerte Frankfurt, Pärnu Music Festival, Tallinn Chamber Music Festival.

 

In 2023 Karolina Aavik together with violinist Hans Christian Aavik will be featured in the new Deutsche Grammophon landmark series “Rising Stars” on STAGE+.

She has benefited from additional guidance from Steven Isserlis, Antoine Tamestit, Christoph Eschenbach, Sophia Rahman, Erik Schumann, Julian Rachlin and many others.
Karolina has won prizes in several competitions both as a soloist and as a chamber musician in various ensembles, e.g. "Polytechnische Gesellschaft Frankfurt", "Ilmari Hannikainen Piano Chamber Music Competition", "VII International Stasis Vainiunas Competition".

Karolina Aavik started her education in Narva and continued in Tallinn Music High School (Ira Floss). She holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in solo piano from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (senior lecturer Sten Lassmann).

In 2019 she moved to Germany to study Chamber Music at the Frankfurt Music Academy of Music and Arts under the tutelage of Prof. Angelika Merkle. She also studied solo piano at the HfMDK with Prof. Alexej Gorlatch. Since 2021 she studied alongside at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Prof. Christoph Eggner and at the Music and Arts Private University of Vienna with Prof. Jevgueni Sinaiski.
